The Value of Cutting Fluids
In association with the BTMA (British Turned Parts Manufacturers Association) and their technical partners Optimum Metalworking has developed a modular training programme in order for our customers to maximse their resources in pursuit of technical excellence and business improvement.
The workshop can be tailored to your exact requirements and are intended to be interactive with demonstrations to ensure the delegates understand the training materials and workshop content. In alignment with quality records a training certificate will be provided at the end of the workshop to reference the delegates attendance and participation.
The following modules are provided for your consideration:
- The cutting principles and where the science of tribology plays a part within the cutting process and recognising the different lubrication modes and additives in order to reduce friction.
- The main functions of a cutting fluid and the information required in making the selection of cutting fluis; neat mineral oils to water based fluids from soluble oils to synthetic solutions.
- The controls necessary to maintain cutting fluids including measurement and recording.
- The health and safety aspects of using cutting fluids and the consequences of out of control conditions.
- Identifying problems associated with metalworking fluids particularly the potential contaminants that can take place and providing a troubleshooting approach with common solutions.
- To review the economics of cutting fluids and how much of a cost impact they have on the whole manufacturing process and where sources of value can be derived from a carefully managed change under Continuous Improvement Programmes (CIP).
